Friends of Tunbridge Wells & Rusthall Commons

Chris Gurr from the Friends of Tunbridge Wells & Rusthall Commons discusses the group’s origin and aims.

The Friends of Tunbridge Wells & Rusthall Commons were formed following the destruction caused by the Great Storm of 1987. CommunityAd Exclusive - Friends of Tunbridge Wells & Rusthall CommonsWe are a registered charity helping to look after The Commons for the benefit of the community, and the wildlife and fauna.

Members’ subscriptions, Gift Aid and donations, plus grants, help us fund projects which benefit the whole community. Examples include maintaining paths, improving access, clearing overgrown areas, and restoring ponds. In addition we fund replacement litter bins and benches, various equipment, and assist (Ranger Dan) with regular volunteer working parties carrying out tasks which include litter picks (optional).

We have recently donated £2000 towards a much needed van for Ranger Dan.

If you wish to join please do so via our website www.friendstothecommons.org or at www.twcommons.org

We email out to members a Common Ground newsletter 3 times a year giving information, events taking place, and Ranger Dan’s Report.

We have over 500 memberships who help us care for these two special green spaces located in the heart of our community.
