‘Shriek Week’ returns to Colchester Zoo this October half term!

Join in with our fang-tastic themed activities taking place from the 23rd October – 31st October 2021!

Colchester Zoo is open until 5pm everyday throughout October half term with most of our additional ‘Shriek Week’ activities included in the cost of admission.

Our admission prices INCLUDE entry to Colchester Zoo from 9.30am until Zoo closure at 5pm.

Our Shriek Week Timetable:

Find out more about each of our Shriek Week activities below!

• Halloween Trail 
  Throughout the Zoo 
  Collect your trail on arrival (one per family group) and look out for the four activity boards to complete during your visit.
• Spooktacular Face Painting – 11am-4pm
  Next to Heart of the Amazon (near our Sealion pool)
  Have your face painted like a scary witch, or maybe a creepy zombie! PLEASE NOTE a small charge applies.
• Witches’ Craft Coven – 11am-4pm 
  Next to Heart of the Amazon (near our Sealion pool) 
  Join the good witches and wizards in the Craft Coven to create your own wands and potions. NB. Small charge applies.
• Pumpkin Carving – 11am-4pm 
  Next to Heart of the Amazon (near our Sealion pool) 
  Select your own pumpkin and create a carved masterpiece in the pumpkin carving area! Either take your pumpkin home with you or donate it to the animals to enjoy as part of their enrichment. NB. Small charge applies.
• Fiesta Footpath – 11am-4pm 
  All Saint’s Church 
  Enjoy a walk along our themed foot path and learn more about the Mexican Day of the Dead festival.
• Fancy Dress Party – 1pm 
  Stage next to Penguini’s Restaurant 
  Show off your best Halloween outfit at our fang-tastic party! Please note, in poor weather, this event will move to the Kalahari Theatre.
• Glow Show – 11am & 3pm 
  Kalahari Theatre
  Watch our glow in the dark show with music and dancing for all to enjoy!
• Pirate Cove – 11am-3pm
  Opposite Meerkat Hangout 
  Take a pit stop and enjoy some fiendish fun and gruesome games!
• Virtual Runaway Ghost Train Ride – 11am-4pm 
  Inside area of Elephant Kingdom 
  Spine tingling virtual journey with ghosts and ghouls!
• Spooky Photo Point – 11am-4pm Picnic area by Penguini’s Restaurant
  Have your picture taken at our creepy photo point and purchase it as a fun souvenir!
