Did you watch Jimi Hendrix perform at The Central Hall 50 years ago?

Fifty years after Jimi Hendrix performed in Chatham his brother will return to Medway to reveal the true story about the music icon.

Leon Hendrix, Jimi’s younger brother, will perform at The Central Theatre on 2 June 2018 as part of The Jimi Hendrix Experience. The band will play all of Jimi’s hits and more.

Jimi played in Chatham, at The Central Hall (now The Central Theatre) on 1 December 1967. Residents who attended the gig fifty years ago are encouraged to get in touch, especially if they have evidence of them at the gig for example, any photos or a ticket sub. Get in touch by emailing [email protected].

Throughout Jimi’s career Leon was his companion and during the show he will recall his first-hand experiences of the recording, touring and private life of the rock legend, including his memories of Jimi’s legendary performance at Woodstock. The audience will also be given the chance to ask Leon questions about his life with Jimi.

James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970) was an American rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music”.
