Tickets to go on sale for new 3foot People Festival in March

Tickets for Chelmsford City Events’ 3foot People Festival go on sale at the end of March, giving people their first chance to book admission to the city’s award-winning festival for pre-schoolers. This year’s festival will run over four days. There’ll be an exclusive opportunity for ourChelmsford account holders to buy tickets during a 48-hour pre-sale which starts at 10am on Monday 23 March. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Wednesday 25 March, when everyone else will have a chance to secure tickets to the festival.

The 3foot People Festival – the UK’s biggest outdoor festival for pre-schoolers and their adults – takes place between Tuesday 30 June and Friday 3 July at Hylands Park. Organisers have added an extra day to its usual three-day run to give more choice to parents and carers this time around and access to the festival has been simplified with parking and a regular shuttle bus to the city centre incorporated in the price of entry.

The event will have all the content that’s made it a hit in previous years, including performances and shows, craft making, interactive play, music and movement, face painting and inflatables. As ever, all activities are included in the ticket price and this year there’ll be more for toddlers to do than ever before. Essex 2020-themed entertainment will also get young visitors directly involved in the county’s celebration of science and creativity.

Food stalls will offer special child-sized portions, catering for all dietary requirements, and unlike many festivals, festival goers can bring in a picnic if they wish. The festival is also hoping to be its greenest yet, with water refill points and recycling stations throughout the site.

Councillor Marie Goldman, the deputy leader of Chelmsford City Council says she’s proud of how the pioneering festival has evolved: “Year after year, thousands of families have a great time at 3foot – there’s still nothing else quite like it anywhere in the country. With the Friday as an extra day available in 2020, even more people will get to experience it.

“3foot is an event that allows us to both entertain our youngest residents and invest in their future; ticket sales from this unique festival help us to put on other key events like our free Skills Festival for secondary school children.”

If you’d like to join the ticket pre-sale on 23 March but you don’t yet have an ourChelmsford account, you can apply online or in person at one of Chelmsford City Council’s leisure centres.
