Remedial work at Royal Sands, Ramsgate commences

Ramsgate Development Company Ltd, the owner of the site, has now instructed construction works to commence on the Royal Sands at Ramsgate.

From now until the end of 2017, the company will undertake remedial works to the hoarding and other necessary building preparatory work. The hoarding will remain in place and is required at present to maintain security and to provide a safe working environment for the on-site construction team.

The development of Royal Sands will be built in accordance with the existing planning consent. Approved plans for the site include a 60-bed hotel, 107 residential apartments, leisure facilities, cafés, shops as well as a children’s playground within the Ramsgate seafront site.

The scheme is a key regeneration project for the town of Ramsgate which will help to support additional economic activity in the area. It is expected to employ up to 200 people while under development. Once completed, it will provide further long-term jobs in the hospitality and retail industry as well as servicing the residential areas.

The Council will be meeting the owners regularly and has assigned a dedicated project officer to monitor performance and looks forward to seeing progress on the site.
