Chelmsford City Theatres are looking for the next generation of stage stars for this year’s pantomime.

Open auditions are being held for Peter Pan this May and the deadline to apply is approaching fast. This year’s production promises to be an amazing experience for both audiences and actors alike. The girls and boys chosen for these roles will work with a professional production company and some will even learn how to fly!

Producers are searching for boys aged between 9 and 15 to play the leading roles of John and Michael Darling, and a mix of boys and girls aged between 12 and 17 to play the Lost Boys. Production company ‘One From The Heart’ has been producing the pantomime at Chelmsford City Theatres for the last 12 years. They’re hoping that this year’s show with aerial routines, magnificent scenery and dynamic musical numbers will be even more successful.

Producer Daryl Back is urging students to apply for these exciting roles: “We’ve already had a great response for the parts of John and Michael Darling and the Lost Boys, but there is still time to get in touch, so please get your form in to us if you think these roles are right for you. We’re also keen to find some outstanding girl dancers for our Juvenile Dance Chorus. It’s an amazing opportunity for girls aged between 13 and 19 who’ve already reached grade 6 in either ballet or modern. You’ll have the chance to join this fantastic production and work with a professional director, choreographer and cast.”

Chelmsford City Theatres’ Artistic Director Ian Knowles says starring in Peter Pan is an incredible opportunity for local young performers: “Our yearly pantomime is always a big draw for audiences here in Chelmsford. Nearly 29,000 tickets were sold for last year’s performances of Cinderella.”

More details about all the roles can be found at The closing date for submitting an audition form is 1 May 2019 and auditions will be held at the Civic Theatre on Saturday 11 May. If you would like to try out for the parts of Michael, John, the Lost Boys or the Dance Chorus, please fill in the audition form. Candidates will not be allowed to take part in the audition without submitting a completed form.

Peter Pan runs from Friday 29 November 2019 to Sunday 5 January 2020. Tickets are already on sale and can be booked by calling 012456 606505 or online at
