New play areas open

Play areas for Ashford

Two revamped play areas are now open, offering improved facilities for children living in Ashford.

Church Road Play Area, Sevington, has been completely refurbished with new equipment and surfacing, including a huge wooden multi tower climbing unit with slides, zip wire, swings, trampoline and more, styled around wildlife and nature with natural colours and timber equipment.

Funding for this project came from Highways England as part of their development of junction 10A. The old equipment was more than 40 years old and the new equipment has breathed new life into the site and increased walking footfall in the local area.

Local residents, children and families were consulted on their wishes for the play area and the responses were included in the final design.

The St Anne’s Road Play Area now boasts a newly refurbished play area with several new items including a toddler climbing frame, adventure trail, swings, surf swing and spinning seesaw. There is also new surfacing. S106 funding from the development next to the park has paid for the improvements.
