Medway Sport: Important Customer Update

Medway Sport – Centre programmes unaffected by latest Covid-19 measures

We are pleased to reassure our members that the latest government guidelines announced this week to control the spread of coronavirus do not affect our swim, gym and fitness class programmes at our sports centres.

Swimming lessons can also carry on, adhering to the strict control measures we have put in place at our pools.

We are monitoring updated guidance from individual sporting national governing bodies for other activities within the centres. Racket sports can currently continue, as long as players are adhering to our safety measures and not playing in groups of more than six. Structured, organised football sessions can also continue on the outdoor pitches at Strood Soccer Centre.

Medway Sport – Face Coverings

Following the latest government guidelines, staff and customers are required to wear face coverings when they are moving around our sports centres. This rule comes into effect from Monday, 28 September. Under 11s and those with medical exemptions do not need to wear a covering.

Face coverings should not be worn when exercising, but must be put back on immediately after the session before leaving the building. Spectators also now need to wear a face covering during swimming lessons.

For everyone’s safety, all staff and contractors in public areas of the centre will be wearing face coverings unless they are protected by a permanent screen or when they are delivering an activity session, class or lesson.

Customers are also reminded that government guidance states you should arrive in sports/swim kit wherever possible, and travel home to change and shower after exercising. Showers on poolside are available for a post-swim rinse only. Time spent in changing rooms should be kept to a minimum.

Thank you to all centre users who continue to follow all of the safety measures that we have in place at Medway Park, Strood and Hoo Sports Centres to keep our buildings Covid-secure and our staff and customers safe. Don’t forget – all activities must be booked in advance.

Cancellation of Bookings

Can we please remind customers to cancel bookings if you are no longer able to/wish to attend. Any online booking can be cancelled online – refunds will not be offered.

If you have not booked online and wish to cancel a session you need to give 24 hours’ notice so we can try to re-sell the space. On-the-day cancellation cannot be refunded unless we are able to re-sell that space.

If you do not show for a booking three times within one month, you will be prevented from booking activities online for a month. Thank you for your understanding.
