Holocaust Memorial Day will bring Medway communities together

It's time to start feeling Christmassy - the festive and New Year season will see the biggest waste and recycling operation of the year, keeping it green and clean in Medway

Medway’s communities will come together on Friday, 26 January 2018 in memory of the millions of people who lost their lives during the Holocaust.

Memorial services will be held up and down the country to honour those who were affected by the Holocaust and ensure they are never forgotten.

Medway’s annual memorial service will take place at Chatham Memorial Synagogue and be incorporated into their Friday evening service.

Each year the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) suggests a theme for services and this year’s theme is the Power of Words. The theme asks audiences to consider how words can make a difference – both for good and evil.

Children from local schools will be part of the service. There will also be a public exhibition, displaying children’s artwork, at the Guildhall Museum throughout February.

The service will be taking place at Chatham Memorial Synagogue, High Street, Rochester, on Friday, 26 January, from 6pm. Space is limited.

Medway’s event is organised by Medway Council, Chatham Memorial Synagogue, Rochester Cathedral, Medway Inter-Faith Action, Medway Youth Council, Kent Police and local schools.

National Holocaust Memorial Day is on Saturday, 27 January 2018.
