A Bit about Newick

Newick is a village in the Lewes District of East Sussex with a population of 2,457 (2011 Census).

The village is home to three pubs, The Crown Inn, The Royal Oak and The Bull Inn as well as one restaurant, Newick Tandoori, and a number of other businesses.

Newick Church of England Primary School was rated outstanding at their most recent Ofsted inspection (2011) and is the villages only school.

The parish church, St Mary’s dates from the Victorian era. Zion Chapel was built in 1834 but converted to flats in 2011 and the Newick Evangelical Free Church dates back to 1892.

Newick holds an annual Bonfire Night every November, the Saturday before Lewes Bonfire Night.

Other notable people from the village include television personality Piers Morgan who was born in Newick and Sussex and England cricketeer James Langridge.
