Lifeline helps keep residents safe


A scheme that helps keep people safe in their homes has been recognised for providing the highest standards of customer service.

Lifeline provides a range of services for vulnerable residents, lone workers, and sports people such as horse riders and runners, and has retained its Telecare Services Association accreditation for another year.

The designation is only awarded to services that meet strict standards around reliability, including swift response times and 24-hour coverage.

Lifeline is operated by Folkestone & Hythe District Council and is available for residents across the district. Andy Blaszkowicz, Assistant Director for the Environment and Corporate Assets, said the accreditation was good news.

“It means our residents can feel reassured that Lifeline will deliver when it is needed and help will be on hand in an emergency.
The team at Lifeline respond to calls on average in just 12 seconds and can offer prompt help if it is needed.
All calls go to our 24-hour control room at the Civic Centre where trained staff are available and can talk via the Lifeline device.”

As well as the pendant worn by vulnerable residents, Lifeline also offers other products including Footprint, a device that works anywhere with a mobile phone signal. It pinpoints a user’s exact location and is aimed at lone workers and sports people such as walkers, horse riders or runners. But it can also be linked to a geographical boundary and will alert the monitoring centre if the wearer strays outside that area.
