Life at CommunityAd – The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Wow… What a fantastically busy two weeks I’ve had since my last blog and so many wonderful things have happened in the lead up to the most wonderful time of the year so I’ve decided to pick my highlights every fortnight to share with you all…Before we know it will be Christmas!

First things first, our annual Christmas sales competition is officially underway! In true ‘Wheel of Fortune’ style, each member of our wonderful sales team earn tickets daily by doing their job well and at the end of the day the member with the most tickets gets to spin the prize wheel! This fun competition format has definitely got our whole office buzzing, eager to see who’s going to win the most tickets and what prize the wheel will land on! Round of applause to Kelly, Jess and Kat for the fantastic planning!

Our CommunityAd Wheel of Fortune is updated daily to reflect what prizes are left and weekly with all the new prizes

WELL-DONE TO OUR WINNERS THIS WEEK:

  • Monday – Maria won the strip of scratch cards (With 10 chances to win £10,000!)
  • Tuesday – Gary won the Fire TV Stick (I’m sure this will come in handy over the Christmas period!)
  • Wednesday – Dom won a large bottle of Jägerbomb (not that Dom needs any more booze but I have however been promised a shot which he still hasn’t delivered on)
  • Thursday – Dom (AGAIN!) won a lovely bluetooth sound bar
  • And…Today is the half day holiday to win with the winner still to be announced! 😊

As each week gets closer to THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR, the number of prizes a day increases along with the value of each prize so on Monday there will be 10 prizes up for grabs and 2 winners a day! We are all so excited to  see what’s available next week! We are now in full Christmas swing in the office and enjoying plenty of festive fun!

Dom in full festive mode winning two prizes this week!

Continuing on the theme of fun, the Orchard Theatre in Dartford is one of our fantastic customers and this week we were over the moon because they gifted us 10 tickets to see Dirty Dancing for the most wonderful time of the year! This Tuesday members of our staff headed to the theatre straight after work and had a brilliant night which was greatly appreciated! It was a first time visiting a theatre for a couple of the girls and they were NOT disappointed! Jess kindly informed me  “It was just incredible the acting the singing the dancing everything was just amazing” this lovely feedback is bitter sweet for me as I also wanted to see Dirty Dancing! The shows return to the stage follows two blockbuster West End runs, four-hit UK tours, AND multiple sensational international productions so I know the show would be spectacular plus, I LOVE the theatre… I’m also sad that I didn’t get to go to the theatre to watch Sarah and her friend eat a kebab…I’ve never known someone to eat a kebab at theatre before and just the thought of it makes me laugh! Only our Sarah eh!

But it wasn’t all misery missing Dirty Dancing as Georgia, Kelly and I had the pleasure of taking a trip up to the London ExCel centre to attend this years 2-day Marketing and Sales Expo! We love a business show which inspires us to continue striving for success and educates us on the latest technology, software, practices and legislation to ensure that we are the best at what we do here at CommunityAd. Now is the perfect opportunity to mention that Georgia came 2nd in the Stand Up Hand Up game during one of our sessions. For future reference Georgia, the most replicated piece of art in the world is in fact Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa…hopefully next time you’ll be able to bag the £20 Amazon gift voucher!

We had two VERY busy days at the show learning and networking with lots and lots of walking so in the evening we enjoyed a well-earned rest at the Sunborn Yacht Hotel. Now that we are all rested and recharged we are looking forward to getting through the busy Christmas period so that when we return to work in the New Year we can develop all our wonderful new ideas to benefit both customers and our company.

I imagine our Chloe and Lindsey is definitely feeling like this is the most wonderful time of the year as they both graduated this week! Huge congratulations to both of you girls we are so very happy for you on your huge achievement!

As always, back in the office editorial were busy scribbling away. Matt had the pleasure of speaking with Canterbury City Football Club Secretary Richie Moore who discussed the clubs current status. On 19th September, it was announced the club would have to exit from the SCEFL due to financial reasons but just a few days later, Chairman Tim Clark confirmed that a generous donation was able to save Canterbury’s season. There is still looming uncertainty for next season though with no confirm home ground and a desperate need for volunteers. Richie is the heartbeat of the club and he goes into detail about the difficulties or running a football club and shares his long term vision for Canterbury City. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for this piece in our upcoming Canterbury magazine.

A hectic week was worsened by phlegm-filled lungs and achy joints for old man (only 32) Dave but he didn’t let the man flu deter him from some interesting chats. Overton’s community champion Emma is yet again Lighting up the village for Christmas with all sorts of festive family fun including live performances from local talent. Local talent comes in many forms included the marvellous musician and sublime singer Sarah Hawkyard who Dave had the pleasure of talking to about her new music and the joys of village life.

Alice spoke to the Overton Mummers who will be performing in Overton on Boxing Day. Mumming is folk tradition going back centuries; the Overton group have records of performances going back to 1928, and the group have raised money for charity every Christmas for 50 years. The mummers’ identity is a close secret, but if you ever see mummers out in the wild, the traditional greeting is “Walk in!” to which they will reply, “In walks I.” Be sure to check out the full story in our next Overton & Oakley magazine.

Callum spent some time with the stars this week writing about the recent visit from everyone’s favourite Avenger, Ant-Man, or as some of you may know him; Paul Rudd. PEOPLE’s 2021 Sexiest Man Alive stopped by The Wellington Arms in Baughurst recently after shooting scenes of his upcoming Ant-Man film in London, and even had time to take some photos with the landlord and staff. Read more about the man who doesn’t age in our upcoming Bramley magazine.
