Life at CommunityAd – A Frightfully Good Week!

Life at CommunityAd - Frightfully Good

Despite the gloomy and spooky weather outside lately, like every week here at CommunityAd it has been another frightfully good week. With Halloween round the corner, we have had a lovely week in the office enjoying plenty of treats (no tricks!) alongside all the frightfully good reasons as to why this week has been boo-tiful.

Starting with our frightfully good sales team. Kelly has spent majority of the week keeping the sales team company and despite the big boss being present everyone has agreed it has been a frightfully good week.

James has somehow broken his own personal and the company monthly record…AGAIN! Well-done James you are fa-boo-lous and well deserving of the daily Actimel we’ve been feeding you!

In the infamous CommunityAd sales envelope game this week two members of the team smashed the competition and claiming the two lovely prizes. Congrats to Maria for winning a free half day holiday (which she has taken today and I’m majorly jealous of) and Emma won a £10 cash prize which I’m sure she will spend on a treat this weekend!

Also in sales, in celebration of this month’s payday today Dom has been showing off about his biggest wage packet that he’s ever received (which was a hell of a lot! I’m considering quitting my job and getting back into sales!) bravo Dom it’s come in perfect time as you’ve just moved into your new home and as you’re buzzing about your amazing garden you can buy yourself a wonderful lawnmower hahaha.

Other than that, Danny’s voice is finally back so now he can talk to customers properly again which I’m sure customers are spooked about. On top of that we’ve also received a really amazing response from latest issue of our Sittingbourne CommunityAd Magazine! Welcome to all the new and existing contributors and advertisers! If you’re in the Sittingbourne area and not involved then do get in touch!

This week in editorial, Matt was delighted to catch up with the Rotary Club of Deal’s president Marlene Burnham who is extremely busy in the throes of promoting the return of the notorious Boxing Day Dip taking place from the beach, north side of Deal Pier. After a year hiatus due to Covid-19, the hugely popular and frightfully good local event has been a permanent fixture in the town for 40 years with its funds going towards brilliant local causes. With hundreds of dippers dressed up for the occasion, it will be great to see so many locals playing their part and braving the cold on the 26th. Check this out in our upcoming Deal CommunityAd magazine.

Callum has been kicking it with the wise and helpful men who make up the Oakley Men’s Shed this week, showing him the kind of practical work that they get involved in and how they support members of the local community who are in need of a handyman or two. With ages ranging from 50 to in the 90’s, you are sure to find a welcoming face and pair of skilled hands at Oakley Men’s Shed! Read all about this in our upcoming Overton & Oakley CommunityAd Magazine!

Alice spoke to the vicar of Holy Cross Church in Bearsted about how he and other members of the parish have worked on biographies of Bearsted residents who died in war. The biographies are often read out as part of their church services, and with Remembrance Sunday coming up, it was both fascinating and moving to learn about how this parish is remembering its members who lost their lives in conflict. Keep an eye out for this in our next Bearsted CommunityAd Magazine.

And finally, Dave was over the moon to finally sit down with Simon Burridge. Simon is a Medway man blessed with creativity, comic nature, and camera skills, and just as well as he’s just made a sitcom pilot, The Tab Theory which is actually terrific. The most amazing thing is that Simon was inspired to embark on this expensive endeavour by a CommunityAd article. Yes, it was us, we were his muse, well the article was about another fellow Medway man and comedy writer Robert Rivett, but we’re still partially responsible and proud to be so. Tab Theory is now available to watch on Amazon Prime. Read about this in our new and improved Rochester, Frindsbury & Strood CommunityAd Magazine!

To print this week was Hawkinge & Capel-le-Ferne, Folkestone, Deal, Faversham and Greenhithe – thanks to the editorial team, Niki, Georgia, Matt, Glynne and Steve for all your work! These publications will all be dropping through your doors shortly so look out for them!

We are now coming up to our busiest time of the year, Christmas is literally round the corner with the festive issues of our magazines being prepared now. If you have something you’d like to share with your community over the festive period do get in touch with us to see how we can help!

15mins left of the day till my weekend begins. I’m sure you all have plenty of Halloween celebrations planned so grab your broomstick and have a FRIGHTFULLY good weekend (unlike me who will be using a broomstick to clean my house!)
