Knit in time to help mark Armistice centenary

Armistice centenary

Knitters are needed who are able to pick up their needles and make woollen poppies in time for the Armistice Centenary in November.

Volunteers at Rose’s Tea Room & Thrift shop in Milner Crescent are offering the wool, the pattern and even the needs for anybody who wants to have a go. The aim is to have hundreds of knitted poppies made in time for Remembrance Day on Sunday 11 November.

Already a couple of dozen knitted poppies have been handed in to the tea room but many more are needed to help reach the target. The pattern is easy to follow and easy to make, so if this is a first effort, or you are a little out of practice, you can still join in.

Pop in to the tea room and thrift shop during normal opening hours to collect your materials.
