Inspiring Young People Inspire Fund

An inspiring initiative from Dover District Council has helped over 500 young people – and the success of the scheme, called the Inspire Fund, has now been celebrated in a new video.

The fund was set up in 2016 to help young people who are facing struggles in their lives.  The scheme introduces young people to activities to help them develop new skills, build confidence, and create new friendships.  We support young people to start their chosen activity, and assist them with transport costs and basic equipment.

The new video highlights how beneficial the fund is to young people, and shows a variety of activities on offer. The video features a range of activities including football, forestry skills, horse riding, archery, art and dance, and includes interviews with referral partners and officers leading the scheme from Dover District Council’s Community Services team.

The Inspire Fund is administered by DDC, working with more than 100 referral partners, including local youth centres, schools and community groups.

Cllr Keith Morris, DDC Cabinet Member for Skills and Training, who was closely involved in setting up the scheme, said: “We are delighted that this successful initiative has been able to help so many young people. The Inspire Fund provides a great opportunity to support young people in the community, and to help them realise their full potential. We look forward to continuing to work with our referral partners to administer this important scheme.”
