Dam Busters exhibition comes to the Seaside Museum, Herne Bay

The Seaside Museum in Herne Bay is currently putting together an exhibition on the Dam Busters, that infamous campaign of bouncing bombs that undoubtedly help us win the second world war.

Due to open Saturday 24 March, they are on the look out for memories anyone who may have been around during the trials of the Bouncing Bomb at Reculver. If you’ve heard stories or have first-hand accounts or photographs of what it was like please email [email protected]

Can you help?

The museum is entirely run by volunteers and is always on the look out for extra help. Could you do any of the following?

There could be a fascinating role waiting for you.

  • Our temporary exhibitions are crucial to the success of the Museum. Can you help with planning our exhibition programme and setting up exhibitions?
  • The display cases are long overdue for a revamp. Can you help with research and with planning the new content and layout of the cases?
  • One of our key objectives is to introduce local children to their town Museum. Can you help with planning and setting up child-friendly events and workshops and looking after our young visitors?
  • We have a lot to offer but the Museum needs constant and effective marketing. Do you have ideas for promotion? Can you help with developing marketing plans and in preparing and producing leaflets, posters, press releases?
  • The Museum cannot succeed and survive without a team of dedicated volunteers. Can you help with volunteer recruitment and administration such as managing the rota?
  • Effective administration is essential if the Museum is to run smoothly. Can you help with the finances or managing the building?

If you can spare the time to help and would like to join the team, please check in store, on the website or email [email protected]  for further information.

We really would be delighted to hear from you.

The museum is open Tues-Fri 11am-3pm, Sat and Sun 11am to 4pm and has a variety of community events going on through out the week. Please see the website for more information http://theseasidemuseumhernebay.org
