Greenaway Live: Charity Music Event Supports Families in Need

A charity-driven music festival, Greenaway Live, is set to take centre stage at the Crawley Rugby Club this Saturday at 15:00 BST. Organised by the Greenaway Foundation, the event aims to raise funds to support families struggling with the costs of Christmas in Kent, Sussex, and Surrey.

Helping Families During the Festive Season

The Greenaway Foundation’s mission is to alleviate the financial burden on families during the festive season. The organisation provides ingredients for a two-course Christmas dinner and even fulfils Christmas gift wishes for children from low-income families, delivering these presents on Christmas Eve.

Darren Greenaway, the founder of the charity, emphasised the growing need for their services, stating that the project this year requires a considerable £200,000 to reach its goals. He shared touching stories of parents who are often moved to tears upon receiving assistance from the foundation.

Building on Success

Following last year’s successful inaugural event, Greenaway Live returns with increased momentum. This second iteration will not only take place live but also be broadcasted on social media, ensuring broader reach and engagement. Darren Greenaway shared his enthusiasm for leveraging the power of music for a good cause, describing the event as a “mini Live Aid,” with live acts generously donating their performances.

Community Support and Future Prospects

In this spirit of generosity, the Greenaway Live festival is not only about raising funds but also about bringing the community together to share in the giving spirit of the season. With plans to support over 1,000 families by 2026, the foundation’s ambitions are set to grow alongside the need for their services.

As local families and communities come together for a day of music and charity, the only cost of admission is the heartfelt support for a worthy cause. All proceeds from tickets will directly fund the foundation’s ongoing and expanding projects.

Ultimately, Greenaway Live is more than just a festival—it’s a movement towards making Christmas a joyous occasion for every family, regardless of their financial circumstances.
