Fun-filled year of events at Kent Life in 2018

Halloween Spooktacular

2018 promises to be another exciting year at award-winning Kent Life Heritage Farm Park, near Maidstone – with brand-new events and popular favourites completing a fun-filled programme for all the family.

 

February Fun & Frolics: Half Term – 10-18 February

While a host of entertaining shows will take place in the Big Top – all of which are included in the admission price – there may also be the chance to see sheep lambing and meet the newborns. Elsewhere, meet Kent Life’s other animals in its real working farm, and take part in a series of activities and trails on site.

 

Marcus Cinganelli – Psychic – 9 March

The well-know Kent physic returns for an evening of clairvoyance and entertainment.

 

Bugs & Grubs Weekend – 17-18 March

Join the bug-hunters and take a closer look at the variety of mini-beasts living at Kent Life. There will be a chance to visit the creepy critter cuddle corner, find out about the day in a life of a local beekeeper, and even create your own mini-beast house to take home.

 

Spring into Easter – 30 March-15 April

Celebrate Easter by saying hello to Kent Life’s adorable newborn lambs, goat kids and calves, chicks and piglets – and have a go at bottle feeding some of them. Families can also take a tractor ride around the grounds, and use their creative flair in the Paint-a-Pot studio. The exciting school holiday programme also includes entertaining shows in the Big Top and surprise visits from the Easter Bunny (30 March – 2 April).

 

May Day Celebrations – 5-7 May

Join in with the quintessential May Day traditions at Kent Life. Celebrations include dancing and the popular annual parade, as well as the coronations of the May Queen and her Princesses, a May King, and Prince.

 

Farmyard Fairy Tales: May Half Term – 26 May-3 June

A number of entertainers will guide visitors through a series of fairytale-themed activities, where youngsters will be able to plant their own beanstalk and help build the three little pigs’ houses.

 

Barn Dance – 9 June

Take your partners by the hand and join us for a toe-tapping, fun-filled barn dance at Kent’s ever-popular family visitor attraction.

 

Family Dog Show – 24 June

Let your dog become the star of the show by inviting your four-legged friend to take part in pooch-friendly activities, including an agility course. There will also be a range of trade stalls for dog lovers.

 

Teddy Bears’ Picnic, including Sooty Show – 14-15 July

There will be fun for families and cuddly toys alike, with a weekend of teddy bear fun. Every child who brings their beloved companion will receive a certificate, while all visitors can meet Kent Life’s Teddy, listen to a story, watch Sooty’s show and have the chance to say hello to him afterwards.

 

Summer Holiday Fun – 25 July-2 September

On top of Kent Life’s programme of activities, there will also be plenty of entertaining shows in the Big Top – all included in the admission price. Complete the Explorer Card in the Summer Holiday Activity Pack and you will be rewarded with a free Firework Spectacular ticket!

 

Kent Life at the Seaside! Under the Sea – 25 July-12 August

Take the plunge by visiting the ocean underworld, with themed activities including the chance to make your very own mermaid. There will also be plenty of other games, races and crafts to keep children of all ages entertained throughout the school holidays.

 

Kent Life at the Seaside! By the Sea – 13 August-2 September

Pirates and princesses will arrive at the attraction for the second half of the summer break, with many beach-themed experiences on offer. Build a sandcastle, design your own goblet, or take a traditional donkey ride.

 

Ice Cream Festival – 27 August

Cool down on Bank Holiday Monday and enjoy treats from ice cream vendors, chocolatiers and sweet stalls. Elsewhere, visit the face painter and take part in the animal activities.

 

Hops ‘n’ Harvest Festival, including Sooty Show – 8-9 September

The popular festival returns to its roots in 2018. Visitors can join in with the traditional hand-picking of hops, as well as meeting historical characters from Kent’s past, seeing one of the last working coal-fired oast houses in the country, and witness the hop-making process from picking to drying. You can also sample some of the 60 varieties of rare and locally brewed ales and ciders while absorbing the fantastic live music programme, while children’s favourite Sooty is perfect for families. For the first time, Kent Life members can enter the Hops ‘n’ Harvest Festival for free. Look out for discounts of up to 50% when booking early online.

 

See The Gruffalo – 23 September

Back by popular demand, The Gruffalo returns to Kent Life to meet fans young and old. You can also meet the resident owls and other animals which feature in the fictional favourite, as well as take part in any of the many activities the attraction has to offer.

 

Apple and Cider Fayre – 6-7 October

A fruit harvest which offers two days of live music, demonstrations and tours – take home a selection of fine home-grown apples, enjoy some of the area’s finest ciders, and watch the traditional process of apple pressing. Cheeky and quick-witted Basil Brush will also be entertaining visitors in the Big Top.

Halloween Spooktacular – 20-28 October

Spooky goings-on are guaranteed at Kent Life, which offers a safe place to go trick or treating with a difference. Knock on doors in the Vintage Village to find who – or what – is lurking behind them. Search for friendly ghouls, brave the creepy crawlies and take a terrifying tractor ride ahead of Halloween.

 

Kent Life After Dark – 23 October

More spooky sights are on offer, with spine-chilling guided tours suitable for under-8s from 5pm to 6pm and for older visitors from 7pm to 8pm. Brave souls can also visit the Ugly Bug Ball with the Kent Life entertainers.

 

Kent-aminated – 26-31 October

When darkness falls, put your nerves and survival skills to the test as Kent Life is transformed into an adults-only zombie-infested zone. With the arrival of the apocalypse, the only chance of surviving the outbreak is to be guided through the affected areas and be guided to the safe zones.

 

Fireworks Spectacular – 3-4 November

A stunning fireworks display will enchant families at Kent Life once again, with fire breathers, face painting, fairground rides, glow sticks and food stalls making this event unmissable. You can also enjoy a luxurious hot chocolate after the festivities. Look out for discounts of up to 50% when booking early online.

 

Christmas on the Home Front – 24-25 November

Learn what it was like to celebrate Christmas during the Second World War by absorbing the sights, sounds and smells of the 1940s at this increasingly popular event. Drill displays by the Home Guard, shops from the era and a rehabilitation centre for injured RAF pilots will be among the activities taking place over the weekend, giving visitors an insight into an era which shall never be forgotten.

 

Meet Santa – selected dates in December

Children can meet everyone’s favourite festive gift bearer, and even receive a present from him in the run-up to Christmas. Santa will be helped by his team of elves, while Mrs Claus will also be spreading festive cheer by inviting youngsters to decorate their very own gingerbread Christmas trees. In addition, there will be the chance to meet Santa’s reindeers, who will join Kent Life’s farmyard friends for the festive season.

 

Farm Nativity – 9 December (TBC)

Visitors will be taken on a magical journey of Kent Life’s grounds for this living nativity. The attraction’s own farmyard animals will help to tell the story of Jesus’ birth, while traditional carols will also be sung during the performance.
