Frimley Junior Joins The Prospect Trust

The Board of The Prospect Trust are delighted to announce that as of 1 April, Frimley Church of England Junior School has converted to the status of an Academy and joined the Trust.  This is a significant milestone in the School’s history and arise from a decision taken by the School’s Governing Body back in 2019.  Since then, the School, Guildford Diocese, Surrey County Council and the Trust have been in close negotiations which have now been approved by the Department for Education.

Chair of School Governors, Mr Tony Ryles said:  ‘I am absolutely delighted that this painstaking process has reached a positive outcome.  We are confident that The Prospect Trust is the perfect partner for Frimley, able to take a very good School to the next level.’

Simon Jarvis, CEO of Prospect Trust, added: ‘This is a great development for the community – for all our learners, parents and the staff.  We are determined that Frimley will be a jewel in the crown of the Trust, one of the leading providers of outstanding junior school education in the country.’

The transition into a multi-academy trust provides the School with many opportunities. Head teacher, Clare Wright, spoke excitedly about the future: ‘To be part of an enlarged Trust incorporating Tomlinscote School and the Sixth Form College, Farnborough establishes coherent provision for 7-18 year locally.  The great majority of our children progress to Tomlinscote and many leave there in year 11 to study at the College.  We can now accelerate our plans to build a shared understanding across all phases of education in the area, with the exciting potential for smoother transition across the cliff-edges of education.’

Parents and their children can expect to see the School retain its character, identity and values which fit well with those of the Trust.  However, the Trust has plans to improve the School site, work on which will begin during the summer.
