What are The Deal Pirates up to in the Summer of 2024?

The Deal Pirates Community Association (commonly known as The Deal Pirates) has an exciting summer of activities planned. We would love to have members of the Deal community join us for some or all of the FUN events suitable for all the family.

Already fixed in the diary are our regular annual events:

The Deal Carnival parade will be on Thursday 25th July 2024. We have position number 6 in the parade. The Pirates in full dress will be swashbuckling along the parade route with a treasure chest that we would like to fill by recovering ‘pieces of eight’ from bystanders.

The annual Treasure Hunt will be on Saturday 3rd August 2024 and is based at the Landmark Centre but roams around the streets of Deal to solve the clues. As we cannot control the weather (remember 2023 with monsoon style rain on the day but the hardy folk of Deal were not deterred) we will have indoor events at the Landmark as well – this includes games and crafts.

Sandown Castle Community Garden Picnic

The Sandown Castle Community Garden (SCCG) annual picnic will be on Sunday 18th August 2024. This is a no-cost bring your own picnic to the garden to both celebrate the beautiful garden created in the remains of Sandown Castle and to bring a Fun event to north Deal. We are planning an afternoon of live musical acts (all local to Deal) and games for those attending. As facilities are limited in the area, we will be supplying an accessible public toilet for the event.

There will be many other events taking place in Deal in which the Pirates are helping other community groups and associations – watch out for Polly the Parrot! Any excuse for some of the Pirates to dress in flamboyant outfits. Please note though that Pirate dress is not obligatory, and some Pirates like to blend in and carry out pirating duties in plain clothes.

You would be most welcome to come to any event and to help us with some of the projects that we carry out in Deal. If you are interested in finding out more about The Deal Pirates have a chat with us or visit us at our regular fortnightly meetings at the Landmark Centre (continuing to alternate between Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
