The community of Overton are no strangers to fundraising for good causes, throughout the pandemic the community spirit has shone through the heavy clouds; now, Overton goes for 24 solid hours of fundraising on 31st July.
CommunityAd had the pleasure of speaking to Emma Louise Restell, the driving force and brains behind Light Up Overton. It was a charming interview where Emma revealed her love of living in Overton with husband Gregor and the power couple are asking for the village’s help in fundraising for Sophie, as their plea reads as follows:
“Sophie is a 9-year-old girl who has been having treatment for a rare children’s cancer.
“Recently, Sophie’s family received the very worst news a family should ever hear, Sophie has relapsed, the family are now planning memories, rather than a future for Sophie.
“Having gone to school with Sophie’s auntie, and also having had her has a client for a long while, family Restell would like to play our part in raising money for Sophie to have all her wishes and dreams come true, during this period.
“Gregor will be running laps around Overton Village for 24 hours on Saturday 31st July, during this period there will be ‘family miles’ where families and children can join the fun for a mile, for a donation. Superhero Mile is certainly on the list!
“If there are any other endurance athletes, or people up for a challenge, Gregor would welcome you to join him for the full 24 hours for a donation too.”

Despite the wet and rather uninspired weather that the British summer has thus far served up, Gregor has been spotted pounding through the puddles getting crucial practice miles in with the help of Nick ‘Nicko’ Reedman and Kevin Hogan. If you see the champions on their laps give them some vocal support.
