Lewes Indoor Market

Lewes is blessed with many an independent business, all of which contribute towards the charming character that this town exudes.

CommunityAd encourage readers wherever they can do so to explore the community’s businesses and shop local, you won’t regret the service.

One wonderful way of shopping local is by heading to the Lewes Town Hall on a Tuesday morning, where you’ll be able to explore the wonderful world of the Indoor Market. It’s a market that offers a fine selection of stalls, ranging from cut price postage stamps, hand knitted toys and clothes, homemade jam and marmalade, gorgeous jewellery, rare collectibles, knitting yarn, as well as Sue and her daughter Jo’s locally-famed cakes, coffees, and sandwiches.

A staple of the indoor market is the Vintage clothes stall, which offers rails full of a wide spectrum of garments from M&S to high end High St such as Cos, Hobbs, Whistles to designer brands at affordable prices. The stall is run by Kate who loves socialising with her customers and in the brief moments she’s without any she’s lucky enough to have her mum and sister on site, as they have their own stall selling beautiful vintage jewellery.

Kate clearly has a lot of love for the market and the community that fills the Town Hall each and every Tuesday morning as she tells CommunityAd “Our customers look forward to the Tuesday market and we have many regulars but also visitors to Lewes. It is a real old fashioned social community hub. Lee and Mick who run the market are a fantastic help to all the stall holders”.

The market has been running for over twenty years, which demonstrates its popularity and the want for it locally, over that time naturally the stalls have evolved and changed much like the stall holders. If you want to be one of them Kate and the gang would happily welcome you whether you want to rent regularly or just for a one off.
