Kings Hill Cricket Club ahead of the new season

Wow. It’s been an incredible twelve months for Kings Hill Cricket Club, during which we’ve taken another step forward as a club, and managed to shake off the challenges of COVID-19.

The 2022 season was our most successful ever, with three league-winners’ trophies and promotions, as well as two players at the top of their respective league run and wicket tables. In addition, we saw a resurgence in friendly cricket, giving more opportunity for players of all abilities (and ages) to enjoy the game. We brought in a Head Coach ahead of last season, to give guidance and structure to our junior and senior players. The results have shown on the field.

The weather was kind to us too. Amazingly, we didn’t lose a single Friday night junior session to the rain last year and having the oval filled with exciting young boys and girls each week bodes well for the future of the club. Our junior hardball teams had some solid performances through the summer, and over the winter our U14 and U12 indoor teams both finished third in their leagues.

Looking ahead to 2023, our First XI will be competing in Division 1 of a newly restructured Kent Cricket League. It will be an exciting challenge, up against large, historic clubs. We’ve also entered a fourth Saturday league team, with aspirations to work our way up. This has been in part due to a new relationship with Leybourne Cricket Club, where our 3rd XI has been playing its home fixtures. Many of Leybourne’s players will be joining KHCC’s Saturday league teams, with their Sunday team playing friendly cricket as Leybourne. We believe that this partnership will benefit both clubs going forward.

KHCC remains committed to our community and we are ever-aware of the fortunate position we’re in to have the number of volunteers, coaches and parents willing to give up their time. As with everyone at the moment, we’re not immune to the pressures of rising costs. We’ve recently appointed a commercial director to help ensure the sustainability and development of the club. A number of exciting new sponsors and partners have already come on board and there are many opportunities to work with us, so please reach out if you’d like to support a community club.

Keep an eye on our website and Facebook @kingshillcricket and Instagram @kingshillcricketclub for upcoming social events at The Hangar bar and our annual Club Day in July. We’d love to see the community down at the club over what we are all hoping will be a fantastic summer.
