Inner Wheel Club of Dover

Friendship, fundraising, and fun! Members of Inner Wheel Club of Dover have been at it again! Lots of activities, enjoying getting together and raising more funds for charity.

For the first week of November, members took part in the Royal British Legion poppy appeal collection in a local supermarket, meeting many of the caring and generous people in Dover. Later in the month, with other Inner Wheel Clubs, we enjoyed helping the Book Bus Charity. The Book Bus is a mobile Library that travels to communities in Zambia with books and mentors to try to improve literacy in children, and to foster a love of reading. We donated books and had a fun day dressing up and competing as characters from children’s books! Some amazing costumes and sights! Representatives of the charity gave a talk about the success of their work and gratefully accepted the sum of money raised.

Our club has also been filling shoe boxes with gifts for Christmas, and these were sent to Ukraine this year to try and bring at least some festive cheer, and to let people there know they are not forgotten.

We have still found time to enjoy our coffee mornings and friendship lunches. These events raise money which goes towards our charity for this year, Hope for Tomorrow. This charity provides mobile units to treat cancer patients in their own locality, to save where possible, people travelling long distances to get some types of treatments.
