Hampshire’s DogsnHomes rescue rehoming 500th dog

Local Fleet-based charity, DogsnHomes Rescue, has reached a significant milestone in its mission to rescue and rehome dogs in need from Portugal and the UK.

Established four years ago, DogsnHomes Rescue is about to rehome its 500th puppy, a little girl who was found with her mum and siblings on the streets of Portugal’s Alentejo region. She was expected to arrive at DogsnHomes HQ at the end of May and, at just four months old, she is already showing signs of being a big, beautiful dog.

Puppy number 500 has been named by some of DogsnHomes 9.5K Facebook followers. The charity asked for suggestions and was inundated with lots of lovely names. In the end, co-founders Gary Baxter and Michelle Ballard chose ‘Quinhentos’ which aptly means ‘five hundred’ in Portuguese.

Gary gave us some more information about Quinhentos (Quin for short!) for those who may be interested in adopting her, “She’s going to be around the size of a Labrador Retriever and the whole litter is known for their calm and friendly nature. They are all incredibly affectionate, eager to please and they have already shown themselves to be great with people of all ages. This little girl is no exception. She has a goofy and playful personality that is sure to win the hearts of anyone who meets her.”

At DogsnHomes, the team knows that every dog is unique and works hard to find the perfect forever home for each and every one of its rescues. This puppy is no exception. Gary and his team are looking for a family who can provide her with the love, care and attention she deserves. They are also looking for a family who understands the commitment of owning a large dog and is willing to provide her with the exercise, training, and socialisation she needs to thrive.

If you are interested in giving a forever home to Quinhentos or any of the other wonderful dogs available for adoption at DogsnHomes Rescue, just fill out the website’s Adoption Form here.
