Frimley Cares

The entire western world has been shocked and sickened by Putin’s actions and the fate of the Ukrainian people. Our friendly and pleasant community of Frimley is no different in that respect: Frimley cares.

Frimley, like many communities up and down the country, has tried to offer what it can to the people who have had their lives ripped apart by the war crimes of the power mad Russian leader. St Augustine’s RC Primary School have been collecting supplies such as sleeping, thermal gloves, socks, female hygiene products and instant and dry food to get to donate. They are far from alone, as the Frimley Cricket Club (which are regularly featured for their champion bowling and batting) have acted as a hub for donations.

As local MP Paul Deach tells CommunityAd “There has been some outstanding community spirit and an outpouring of support from the community with the war in Ukraine”.

Updating his 3,600 Facebook followers he wrote on March 14th:

“On behalf of the whole community, I would like to thank Jack & Millie who were so moved by what they have been seeing in #Ukraine that they organised a cake sale to raise funds for the relief effort.

“Both children are students at Mytchett Primary School and for the last couple of weeks, they have been making posters to promote their fundraising event during their lunch and break times.

“I am so impressed by their initiative, determination and leadership. They are a credit to their parents and school and I intend to visit them both very soon to personally thank them for their efforts.

“At the time of writing this post, Jack & Millie have raised £1120 which is just remarkable.

“If you would like to donate to their fundraising page, you can do so here.”

The fundraising page has since closed, after racking up an incredible £1,630 (+ est. £77.50 in gift aid) in just 14 days! What a beautiful display of just how much Frimley Cares.
