Friends of St. George’s Church, Ramsgate

We are looking for new volunteers to join us as we revive St. George’s Church.

St. George’s sits at the heart of Ramsgate town centre. Tucked away on Church Hill, just off Ramsgate High Street, it is a glorious late Georgian building with a Grade 1 listing and is packed with fascinating local and national history.CommunityAd Exclusive - Friends of St. George’s Church, Ramsgate

We are looking for new members and volunteers to join the St. George’s Friends Group, to get involved in building community as part of the wider regeneration of Ramsgate. As St. George’s Church approaches its 200th Anniversary we have embarked on an exciting regeneration journey. As well as actively fundraising for urgent repair work to the Vestry roof we are also developing plans for the renewal of our buildings.

St. George’s will be participating in Heritage Open Days again this year, on both September 9 and 16. There will be opportunities to take tours of the crypt, or for visitors with a head for heights to make the climb to the top of our iconic lantern tower. Our Heritage Open Day on Saturday September 9 will also feature the fourth and final Yard Sale of this summer, with stalls selling vintage clothes, bric-a-brac and including activities in the churchyard and the hall.

As our regeneration project develops, there will be numerous opportunities for volunteering, both front of house and behind the scenes, from taking visitors on guided tours to helping with fundraising and the administration of the group.

For further information, please visit the St. George’s website ( or come along to our Heritage Open Day on September 9 and 16.
