Faversham Rugby FC

2022 is set to be a big sporting year globally, nationally, but most importantly locally. CommunityAd checked in with the inclusive community club that is Faversham RUFC.

Have you seen a group of lads running around on the Rec on Saturday afternoons, crashing into each other and throwing a big egg about?

That’s because Faversham Rugby FC are back in full swing with the 1st XV ‘The Castaways’ playing regular league fixtures in the London & SE Division Kent 1, the 2nd XV ‘The Marooned’ in the Kent 5 (East) Division and the Ladies Team training regularly.

Time off from our beautiful game due to COVID-19 has left the members raring to go, with good numbers attending training. A strong first Kent 1 performance in the 2019/20 season left us mid-table and following a fallow year the 2021/22 side is holding their own in the same position. The campaign continues with 5 games to go, 2 of them at home on 19th February and 12th March. A place in the semi-final of the Salver Cup on the path to retaining the trophy and our Annual Club dinner to look forward to will close out the season.

Training continues Tuesday nights from 8pm at the excellent Abbey School facilities, where new faces for the Ladies’ and Men’s squads are always welcome. The Ladies’ team focus on rugby orientated fitness and core skills in an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere.

Changes to the RFU Competition Structure for the 2022/23 season will bring exciting new challenges and opposition to face whilst still holding onto the core values of our club. Support at home matches is appreciated with a pint from the Club or a coffee from Hat Hats and new members can find contact details on our website or social media.
