Charters School, Sunningdale, takes on Three Peaks Challenge

Here at Charters School we’re edging ever closer to our biggest fundraising event in recent memory.

This June, a group of staff will be undertaking the iconic Three Peaks Challenge and are aiming to raise £10,000 for our Unity Fund, which provides a discretionary source of financial assistance for our disadvantaged students and aims to support families who may be experiencing financial difficulties.

The ten team members, including our Headteacher John Fletcher, have been training since the start of the year, and together they are quietly confident that they can scale the highest peaks in England, Scotland, and Wales in under 24 hours. It’s a tall order, but with our school motto of Unity, Respect, Excellence ringing in their ears, we’re sure they can rise to the challenge!

The team will set off on Friday 28th June and we are holding our Summer Fair the following day so that we can celebrate the completion of the challenge as a ‘Charters family’. We have been humbled by the support of the wider community as many local businesses have sponsored the team or donated items for the silent auction and raffle.

We very much hope that members of the community will come along to the Summer Fair – which takes place from 12pm to 4pm – and there really will be something for everyone. Maybe you’d like to browse the stalls in our Artisan Marketplace, have a go on the Tombola, or stop for a delicious bite to eat at the Street Food pop-up. Our younger visitors will enjoy the Game Zone, run by our fantastic Year 7 students, while those who are interested in the history of our school can pop by the Alumni Hub which will feature photos and memorabilia from our archives; it’s the ideal place to re-connect with old friends and you just may spot yourself in some of the photos! Bid for one of our amazing experiences in the Silent Auction, or sip a Pimm’s while you listen to our talented student musicians. The fun kicks off at midday and you’ll have four hours to stock up on pre-loved uniform ready for the return to school in September, peruse the Plant Stall or just enjoy being part of our thriving Charters community.
