Bridge Charity Calendar for Pilgrims Hospices

We are sure many local residents have purchased, and proudly display, the Bridge Charity Calendar beautifully curated by talented photographers Amanda Hills and Sharon Arnold.

We caught up with Amanda to find out how the calendar came together and how much the wonderful idea has raised for Pilgrims Hospices since its launch in 2018.

“When I moved to Bridge I had the good fortune to meet Sharon whilst out walking our dogs regularly,” explained Amanda.

“We started taking photos together of our beautiful area and posting them on the village Facebook page. We soon realized that local residents enjoyed seeing and relating to our images. Several people commented on how much they would like to have a calendar of pictures such as ours… and there the Bridge Charity Calendar idea was born!”

Amanda’s passion for photography started when she was at Art College, aged 18. Amanda also went on to get a degree in film and photography and then worked as a professional for a few years; later working as a horticulturalist and now often combines her knowledge of both subjects into her photographs.

“As well as being a keen photographer, Sharon is also the technical whiz behind the calendar with all her computer skills, following her career in telecommunications. She keeps us both on track with her amazing spreadsheets which I find completely baffling.

“We produced our first calendar in 2018 which proved very popular. Now on our 6th calendar we are very lucky to still have the same sponsor, The Red Lion Inn. Their very considerable generosity means that we are able to donate all proceeds to our chosen charity, The Pilgrims Hospices. To date we have raised just over £4000 and at the end of this year we will be up to £5000.

“We chose to support The Pilgrims Hospices as a local charity which touches and helps so many local families with support, care, love, compassion and dignity.

“We envisage producing a Bridge Calendar for as long as it remains popular and sales continue. Many local residents like sending it to family who no longer live here but enjoy seeing the area and reminiscing about where they grew up.”

The Calendars can be purchased for £10 each at The Bridge Farmers Market every 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month or by contacting the photography duo on Facebook or email [email protected]
