Bramley Scouts

It’s been all change for the Bramley Scout Group.

Having been based at Bramley School for over 12 years, we were given notice to leave so they could expand their much needed after-school provision. We would be starting the next term somewhere new!CommunityAd Exclusive - Bramley Scouts

What followed was a frantic few weeks as we weighed up our options which we found to be very few. Finding somewhere that could accommodate our existing meeting days and times proved very difficult but changing them would impact the availability of both our young people and Leaders.

We even had to contemplate moving out of the village and explored venues further afield, like Sherfield On Loddon which would have impacted even further the ability for our young people to attend and we so desperately wanted Bramley Scout Group to remain in Bramley.

As luck would have it, not only are we staying in the village, but have moved closer to where we store our equipment and are now more central to the village. We are now the proud occupants of Brocas Hall on Mondays (6:30pm – 8:00pm Cubs), Tuesdays (5:45pm – 6:45pm Beavers & 7:00pm – 8:30pm Scouts) and Wednesdays (5:00pm – 6:00pm Squirrels).

We had been spoiled a little because, by the very nature of a school, it is designed to be child friendly and secure, so Leaders have been hard at work writing risk assessments to ensure all of our Members remain safe whilst enjoying our new space.

We are looking forward to making full use of our new facilities including the meadow, the wonderful area created by Wilder Bramley and the tennis courts. We are also looking forward to having more visible presence in the village, you can’t miss us, just follow the sound of laughter.

We only have a short time with our Sections each week and we want to make the most of it, but leaders would love to talk to anyone who wants to know more about our Group, it’s never been easier; but please do so after our meetings so we can maximise the time we have with our young people. We can always chat whilst we clear away but be aware we may rope you in to help!

Look out for information about how you can be a Friend of Bramley Scouts, coming soon.
