Infrastructure Boost for Essex

Infrastructure boost – Essex is set to benefit from two multi-million-pound infrastructure investments after the government announced £318million funding for new projects in the county – more than half of the total Housing Infrastructure Fund for the country.

Aimed at unlocking housing growth across Essex, the successful bids will see the construction of the Chelmsford North East Bypass and Beaulieu Railway Station, as well as the A120/A133 link road and Rapid Transit System in Colchester.

The announcement is truly reflective of just how key road, rail and public transport networks are for the county’s growth, helping create the conditions for our economy and communities to grow sustainably and improving connectivity across the county, region and beyond.

The successful bids are the result of collaborative working between the county council, city, district and borough councils and local MPs, and will see these partners continue to work together as the projects are implemented. More details about the projects can be found on the Essex Highways website.
