Eastbourne Holocaust Memorial Day online hub
Eastbourne is commemorating with the Eastbourne Holocaust Memorial Day which will be hosted via an online hub from 22 January to 1 February.
- The online hub can be accessed at www.lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk/HMD
The hub contains videos of poems, speeches, musical performances by members of the community, including a speech from Holocaust survivor Dorit Oliver-Wolff BEM.
Holocaust Memorial Day remembers the millions of people who suffered in the Holocaust and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.
We also encourage people to watch the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust’s UK Ceremony online on Wednesday, January 27, from 7pm to 8pm. People need to register in advance to gain access to the virtual ceremony at www.hmd.org.uk/uk-holocaust-memorial-day-2021-ceremony
Please register below to receive the link in advance of the ceremony.
At 8pm, get ready to Light the Darkness with us. Households across the UK will be lighting candles and safely putting them in their windows to:
- remember those who were murdered for who they were
- stand against prejudice and hatred today
Light a candle and put it in your window at 8pm on 27 January 2021 (if you are able to do so safely).
