Culture sector in South Thanet continues to benefit from government investment

Local MP, Craig Mackinlay, has hailed the news that South Thanet is set to receive further substantial investment as part of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Culture Recovery Fund administered by Arts Council England.  The following organisations will benefit from the latest tranche:

Ramsgate Music Hall – a dedicated music venue and one of the most cherished culture spots in Kent – will receive £78,201.

Your Leisure Kent Ltd – whose diverse portfolio includes leisure centres, theatres, beach chalets and hospitality – will net some £332,055.

Faith In Strangers – a multi-use arts venue in Cliftonville – is set to benefit from £107,000 of funding.

Clayspace Studios – a pottery, ceramics and sculpture not-for-profit social enterprise and teaching facility in Cliftonville – will be awarded £57,857.

A total of £1.57bn of government support has been earmarked to support heritage and the wider cultural sector across England during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Craig Mackinlay MP commented:

“These are unprecedented times and this investment in UK culture will provide a lifeline to vital cultural and heritage organisations in South Thanet hit hard by the pandemic and will also benefit those who work in the sector.

“My sincere congratulations to Ramsgate Music Hall, Your Leisure Kent, Faith in Strangers and Clayspace Studios and thank you for all you are doing to keep the culture sector alive in Thanet in these extremely difficult times.”
