A bit about Charing & District
Charing is an agricultural large village and civil parish in the Ashford District of Kent in the South East of England. The village is sited on the Pilgrim’s way from London to Canterbury, and is a one days walk from Canterbury. The Parish Church of Charing- Church of St Peter and Paul is situated next to the remains of the Archbishop’s Palace.
Charing has had four mills over the centuries, serving the needs of the villagers. The Charing windmill stands today as a house conversion and last worked in 1891. The railway station was first opened on 1st July 1884 and travels directly to Ashford international and London Victoria. Charing’s most famous building is the Archbishop’s Palace.
