Grants up to £5,000 are available for businesses willing to match the funds.

A new grant scheme to help businesses on industrial estates improve the external appearance of their premises has been launched, it has been announced today.

The scheme, which opened to applications last Friday (16 October), is aimed at supporting the growth of local companies and improving the quality of the environment on industrial estates across the district.

The scheme will prioritise small and medium sized businesses on industrial estates in Halstead, Witham, Great Yeldham, Earls Colne, Sible Hedingham and Braintree.

Grants up to £5,000 are available for companies willing to match the funds. The aim is to support about 20 businesses out of the £100,000 budget which has been set aside for this scheme this year.

Businesses can use the grants to repair and paint walls, replace doors and windows and make improvements to green spaces and so forth.

Businesses should visit www.braintree.gov.uk/industrialgrants to find out more about the scheme, the criteria and application process. The scheme is open to applications until Friday, 18 December.

Cllr Cunningham, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Infrastructure at Braintree District Council, said: “Our plan to upgrade the buildings on our industrial estates will not only improve the local environment for residents and businesses, but it will also give business owners the funding needed to carry out renovation work and hire local tradespeople. This impetus will safeguard jobs and support our local economy.”
