Billericay Refill Delivery Service Launched – Nic-ECO
Fed up with single use plastic?
Planet friendly refills that don’t cost the earth.
Billericay resident Nicola Bickerstaff, has launched Nic-ECO, a refill hub with a local delivery service. Shopping at refill shops is a great way to support a local business whilst also looking after the planet.
Nic-ECO offers Billericay residents a refillable range of liquids for cleaning, washing up, laundry, handwashing, hair & body and natural pet care. Enabling customers to reduce single use plastic from around their home easily with a local contactless, doorstep delivery service. Refills are ordered online and delivered in Nic-ECO glass bottles so customers can simply refill their existing bottles again and again. When it’s time to refill, the empty bottles are placed on the doorstep for collection, with the refill bottle being left in its place. Refill, return, repeat.
“I am bringing a refill service to the heart of Billericay, making it convenient for local residents” comments Nicola. Nic-ECO is the only Faith in Nature refill station listed by the company in South Essex. Nic-ECO is also the first refill dedicated business in the UK to offer WildWash natural pet shampoo as a refill. Nicola says “I chose my eco refill range from companies whose products are made in the UK and free from parabens & phosphates, they are kind to you and our world. Nic-ECO also has a plastic free household range and handmade, luxury, natural spa collection with zero plastic packaging.” How did the idea of creating a local refill hub with an eco-friendly range come about? Nicola found herself becoming more aware of the often ‘hidden nasties’ contained in those products we use every day around our home. Together with an increasing awareness waste created and the impact on the planet. Like for so many others, programmes like The Blue Planet have had a big impact, hearing about the damage plastic was having and how we need to remind ourselves we have a responsibility to care for the world we live in. The collection or delivery service offered by Nic-ECO makes refilling convenient for Billericay residents. Nicola says “There are simple swaps you can make to reduce plastic waste around the home such as reusable beeswax food wraps instead of cling film or plastic bags, a wooden dish brush or compostable sponge, washable and reusable cotton pads rather than packaged wipes or cotton wool”
Many of us want to reduce our impact on the environment and by making small changes we can do this. Across Essex, we are lucky to have refill shops to save on plastic packaging. Nicola delivers refills by bike and so those living in Billericay will see Nicola and her Nic-ECO trailer on the refill round. Nicola says “Billericay, let’s make a difference one bottle at a time. Refill not landfill”
