Ascot Care Home Manager Shortlisted for National Award
An Ascot care home manager has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award recognising exceptional contributions to the care sector. Alison Stevens, who works at Lynwood Care Centre, is a finalist for The Sara Berrio Care Champion Award at the National Care Awards 2026.
Innovative Initiatives for Residents
Alison joined Lynwood Care Centre on Rise Road in April and has been credited with launching a number of creative projects to enhance the lives of residents. One standout initiative was the ‘Lynwood Explorer’, a month-long virtual cruise across July. This immersive experience took residents on a virtual journey through countries including Spain, Italy, Jamaica, and Nigeria, featuring themed activities, food, and music inspired by each destination.
Award Criteria and Recognition
The Sara Berrio Care Champion Award honours individuals who make a significant impact in the care sector. It recognises staff members, relatives, residents, or volunteers who have gone above and beyond to improve the lives of others, support charitable efforts, or demonstrate extraordinary dedication to care. Alison expressed her delight at being named a finalist, stating, “It’s amazing to think that I’ve been considered good enough to even reach this stage.”
A Dedicated Team Effort
While Alison is thrilled by her nomination, she is quick to commend her colleagues. “Caring for and enriching the lives of older people is never the work of one person,” she remarked. “I feel very fortunate to be part of such a dedicated team.” Her colleagues at Lynwood Care Centre have embraced her innovative vision, and she has become a highly regarded member of the team since her arrival.
Looking Ahead to the Awards Ceremony
The winners of the National Care Awards 2026 will be announced at a ceremony taking place on November 6 at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London. Regardless of the outcome, Alison’s nomination has already brought pride and recognition to Lynwood Care Centre and its staff.
