Healthy feet are happy feet – Celebrating National Feet Week in style!

Did you know that National Feet Week is a thing? Well, it is and you can celebrate it from the 7th-13th March.

In order to mark the occasion, we have decided to put together a little guide on the best ways to take care of and achieve healthy feet!

Invest in good shoes!

Specialist footwear might not sound like the most attractive thing in the world but it can be an important part of taking your foot care seriously.

Did you know that your feet swell through the day? This is why you shouldn’t buy shoes first thing in the morning. Recipe for disaster!

Does your work entail long hours on your feet? Then you’re going to need comfy shoes with a proper grip.

If a more formal environment is your thing then I suggest investing in a pair you can use for travel.

You can always change when you reach the office but running for a bus or train and high heels, do not mix!

Prolonged use can also damage your feet and we wouldn’t want that, would we?

We recommend checking out Soles with Heart an independent shoe boutique in West Malling Kent which specialises in the fitting of children’s shoes and are a member of The Society of Shoe Fitters!

Self-love is self-care…

Most people will use some sort of moisturiser in their day to day lives.

Especially with the use of sanitiser rising significantly over the past couple of years. Dry skin is unsightly and painful!

But do you moisturise your feet? Do you regularly trim your toenails or is that something reserved for summer and special occasions?

It’s important to maintain your feet in the same way you would your hands. They might not always be visible in the same way but are equally as important.

Hygiene is key!

Surely this goes without saying but, change your socks regularly for healthy feet.

Having freshly washed, clean feet is a must but just make sure to dry them properly.

Damp feet are a breeding ground for infections such as athlete’s foot.

I’d also advise being extremely cautious when it comes to public or communal areas, not everyone takes as much pride in their feet as you do!

Seek professional help…

Your feet shouldn’t be treated any differently than the rest of your body.

They need proper care and sometimes that will mean getting advice or guidance from someone in the know.

A chiropodist is a medically trained professional devoted to the provision of healthy feet.

Basically the gods of the foot world. Don’t suffer in silence, if you’re worried about persistent discomfort or pain then book yourself in and sorted. Better to be safe than sorry.

Beautiful feet are happy feet!

I’m sure most of you will visit a salon regularly for some reason or other.

You probably get a haircut or maybe your nails are a stand out feature. Well, why not your feet?

Treat yourself or someone you love (Mother’s Day is coming up after all) to a pedicure.

With the warmer weather (hopefully) approaching sooner rather than later, now is the perfect time to get your feet sorted for those sandals!
