The 149th Open Weekend Now Sold Out

Tickets for the weekend at The 149th Open have sold out as demand to be in Sandwich for golf’s oldest and most prestigious major continues to scale unprecedented heights.

Excitement for the return of the Claret Jug to the South East of England has been such that Weekly, Weekend, Championship Saturday and Sunday tickets have now sold out.

The only way to book your spot for Championship Saturday or Sunday is by purchasing one of the remaining hospitality places which are limited.

Tickets remain available for Championship Thursday and Friday where 156 of the world’s best golfers will be battling it out to make the weekend and become the next Champion Golfer of the Year.

The Open takes place at the famous links of Royal St George’s, Kent for the 15th time from 12-19 July 2020.

Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke sealed his maiden major title the last time The Open visited St George’s in 2011, fulfilling a childhood ambition to triumph on his 20th appearance.

Founded in 1887 by Dr William Laidlaw Purves to be a rival to St Andrews in the south of England, Royal St George’s has previously hosted the fight for the Claret Jug on 14 occasions.

Not only that, it became the first venue outside of Scotland to hold The Open when John Henry Taylor was crowned Champion Golfer of the Year in 1894 on the Kent coastline.

Shane Lowry’s stunning triumph at Royal Portrush is still fresh in the mind of golf fans after he produced one of the great major rounds on the Saturday, shooting a sensational eight-under 63 to set a new course record.

Saturday’s at The Open are dramatic – from Shane Lowry’s course record 63 at Royal Portrush last time around to the wind and rain of Muirfield in 2002. The only way to experience Saturday at The Open is through one of The Open’s weekend hospitality experiences.

More than half a century has passed since an Englishman was last crowned Champion Golfer on English soil, with Tony Jacklin holding the honour after his win at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

Tommy Fleetwood will be among the home golfers looking to end that unwanted streak next year, although they face stiff competition from the likes of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka.
