On Thursday 22 June, a record number of 197 walkers took part in the Summer Solstice Stride, raising £732.50 to be donated to Macmillian Cancer Support and Essex Air Ambulance.

Led by friendly walk leaders and cycle marshals, this year’s event was a huge success and saw walkers and volunteers walk either 5km or 10km from Anglia Ruskin University, along the rivers and through the parks of Chelmsford.

The Summer Solstice Stride is a partnership event between Heart & Sole, Chelmsford City Council, Anglia Ruskin University and the Chelmsford Star Co-operative who both provided refreshments.

Heart & Sole host over 15 different FREE health walks across Chelmsford every day of the week. For information on other walks and events organised by Heart & Sole, please visit www.chelmsford.gov.uk/heartandsole or call 01245 606569.
