National Stalking Awareness Week gets support from Kent Police

Kent Police is supporting National Stalking Awareness Week.

Detective Superintendent Susie Harper, head of Kent Police’s Public Protection Unit said,

`Stalking and harassment can have a devastating effect on victims’ lives and we remain focused and committed to bringing offenders to justice.

`Stalking can include watching or following a person, contacting them by any means including the internet and interfering with property. It might never progress into any physical act of violence, but can have long term effects on victims, so it is something that we take very seriously.

`If a crime is in progress or you feel intimidated we would always encourage people to call police immediately on 101 or 999 in an emergency and be reassured that they will get the support that they need.

`Kent Police continually reviews the training and advice provided to officers to ensure that victims of stalking and harassment are provided with a first class service in line with national guidance.

`We are supporting National Stalking Awareness Week between 24 and 28 April 2017. It is run by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and will highlight the impact stalking has on people’s lives.
