The Festival is proud to present the world premiere of a new musical adventure, The Masters of Mystery by Jenna Donnelly and Ethan Lewis Maltby, commissioned by Canterbury Festival.

We’re in England, 1926. Lock and Doc have been friends since birth and, now both teenagers, they have a gift for solving unusual crimes.

When they arrive in the town of Nottswood, they are faced with their darkest challenge yet as an evil presence takes over the town. THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY ADVENTURE BY JUDE ADAMS

DATES

16 Oct – 23 Oct 2017 at 10:00 AM

THIS IS A FREE EVENT.

Multimedia showcase of the inspirational music and story of Jude Adams.
Singer / songwriter Jude Adams (58) is an inspirational role model for older women. In her multimedia show, The Most Extraordinary Adventure, she takes us through her life and shares the remarkable story of how she came to write, perform and launch her debut album, This Girl, This Woman.Through a blend of performance, interviews, video clips and exhibition of lyrics and images, Jude takes the audience through the key moments of her life: from her teenage dreams of being a singer to the problems she encountered with her sexuality, and the cruel setback of being diagnosed with M.E. just as she had finally embarked on pursuing a singing career at the age of 50. She also shares her experiences of the creative process, much of which she had to learn and get to grips with along the way.

Jude’s story is compelling, honest and inspirational, and reveals a gritty determination to achieve her dreams despite perceived obstacles of age, health and a lack of musical know-how.

Jude’s debut album, This Girl, This Woman was launched in September 2016 and has received considerable attention both nationally and internationally with one of the songs, Me and Mrs Peel reaching the semi-finals of the 2016 UK Songwriting Contest.

CANTERBURY THROUGH MY EYES

1 Nov – 4 Nov 2017 at 09:00 AM

Canterbury Festival and The King’s Mile launched a photographic competition in July 2017. The challenge was to produce just one photo showing ‘Canterbury through your eyes’.
The standard was high, and the content enticingly wide ranging. The competition judges had the task of choosing just 20 photos to appear along the Kings Mile in the outdoor exhibition during the Canterbury Festival. They also had to choose one winner, to receive a £150 voucher to spend at the Canterbury Camera Centre.

Spend some time walking along The King’s Mile, using the map below, following the community photographic trail, and discover what Canterbury looks like through someone else’s eyes…

Congratulations to all of the finalists and particularly to Martin Jameson – winner of the competition, whose photo is displayed in the Lilford Gallery and appears at the top of this page.
