A Bit about Strood

Strood is a town in which comes under the authority of Medway. Up until 1998 it was part of Kent and is still ceremonially associated via the Lieutenancies Act. The town is situated on the bank of the River Medway at its lowest bridging point, and is also part of the Rochester post town. Up until 1193 Strood was part of Frindsbury, but now Frindsbury is considered part of Strood.

Strood’s history has been dominated by the river Medway and the bridges, the roads and rail links they carried. It is now a mainly residential suburb of Rochester, and a commuter town for the city London.
